Military Permits?
Here's my deal. I'm stationed at Jackson, in South Carolina. I still use a PA license. When I sent in my CWP packet, I sent a copy of my ID, my PA driver's license and my PCS orders to Jackson. The CWP I got back has no picture (even though I enclosed one) and says "valid with military ID" in the picture block (I posted about it here). The back states it's specifically for someone on PCS orders and that I must have my military ID on me when carrying.
Anyone else experience something like this, either in SC or other states? Has it proven to be a hindrance or a pain in any way (follow-on permits or anthing else)? Thanks.

I think your O.K. I think they have done what they can to accommodate you. Good luck.

That's not unusual. Years ago they did the same thing with my PA drivers permit. It's a way to get around the requirement for having your picture on the permit.

In arizona there is no picture on the CCW. it is only valid with a picture ID!
You are required to have your Military ID on you at all times anyways!

I do not know what your issue is, you got your permit and are required to carry your mil ID at all times anyway.

I don't really have an issue, just questions. Like you say, I will have my ID on me, so that's no problem.
I just wondered....
1. if it was common to get a military permit in SC or other states
2. did it affect getting follow-on permits in any way (residency issues)?

It's not a military permit, per se...as much as it is an accommodation the state has made for you. You do not have any other special privileges by such a permit. I think it is much ado about nothing...

Thanks for the input guys. I'll report back if I run into any reciprocity / follow-on permit issues. Stay safe.
