A Terror Strike on the U.S. in the Next Few Months?
US can expect another terror strike within few months : Ex-Israeli bodyguard
Ani July 18th, 2009
NEW YORK - A former bodyguard of former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir, has warned that the United States can expect another terror attack on the lines of 9/11 and or 7/7 in the next few months.
The bodyguard also says homegrown, not foreign terrorists will carry out the next attack on America. These attackers, he says, will have attended and been educated in American schools and universities.
He says that the United States Government would need to look for ’students’ who frequently travel back and forth to the Middle East. These young terrorists will be most dangerous because they will know our language and will fully understand the habits of Americans. On the other hand, Americans won’t know or understand a thing about them, he adds.
Juval Aviv, who was appointed by Meir to track down and bring to justice the Palestinian terrorists who took the Israeli athletes hostage and killed them during the Munich Olympic Games in 1972, and on whom the movie “Munich” is based, had predicted the London subway bombing on the Bill O’Reilly show on Fox News stating publicly that it would happen within a week.
O’Reilly laughed and mocked him saying that in a week he wanted him back on the show.. But, unfortunately, within a week the terrorist attack had occurred.
Aviv is also said to have given intelligence he had gathered in Israel and the Middle East to the Bush Administration about 9/11 a month before it occurred. His report specifically said they would use planes as bombs and target high profile buildings and monuments.
The US Congress has since hired him as a security consultant.
As far as the next terrorist attack on the United States is concerned, Aviv said: “Forget hijacking airplanes. Terrorists will never try and hijack a plane again as they know the people onboard will never go down quietly again.”
He also says American airport security is a joke, and adds that the United States so far has been “reactionary rather than proactive” in developing strategies that are truly effective.
For example, he says:
1) US airport technology is outdated. Americans look for metal, while new explosives are made of plastic.
2) He also does not think much of the Homeland Security decision to order all airline passengers to take off their shoes, and says that he is waiting for some suicidal maniac to pour liquid explosive on his underwear.
3) Aviv says that if a terrorist attack targets airports in the future, they will target busy times on “the front end of the airport” when/where people are checking in. It would be easy for someone to take two suitcases of explosives, walk up to a busy check-in line, ask a person next to them to watch their bags for a minute while they run to the restroom or get a drink, and then detonate the bags before security even gets involved. In Israel, security checks bags before people enter the airport.
Aviv says the next terrorist attack in America will involve suicide bombers and non-suicide bombers in places where large groups of people congregate such as Disneyland, Las Vegas casinos, big cities (New York, San Francisco, Chicago, etc.) and that* it will also include shopping malls, subways in rush hour, train stations, etc., as well as rural America this time* (Wyoming, Montana, etc.).
The attack will be characterized by simultaneous detonations around the country, as terrorists like big impact, involving at least 5-8 cities, including rural areas.
Aviv says terrorists won’t need to use suicide bombers in many of the larger cities, because at places like the MGM Grand in Las Vegas-they can Simply valet park a car loaded with explosives and walk away.
Aviv says all of the above is well known in intelligence circles, but that our U. S. Government does not want to ‘alarm American citizens’ with the
On an encouraging note, he says that Americans don’t have to be concerned about being nuked.
Aviv says the “terrorists who want to destroy America will not use sophisticated weapons. They like to use suicide as a front-line approach. It’s cheap, it’s easy, it’s effective; and they have an infinite abundance of young militants more than willing to ‘meet their destiny’.”
Aviv says that, as a people, Americans are unaware and uneducated about the terrorist threats they will, inevitably, face. America still has only a handful of Arabic and Farsi speaking people in our intelligence networks, and Aviv says it is critical that we change that fact soon.
So, what can America do to protect itself? From an intelligence perspective, Aviv says the U.S. needs to stop relying on satellites and technology for intelligence. We need to, instead, follow Israel’s, Ireland’s and England’s hands-on examples of human intelligence, both from an infiltration perspective as well as to trust ‘aware’ citizens to help. We need to engage and educate ourselves as citizens.
Washington is of the view that Americans ‘can’t handle the truth’ and is concerned that American citizens will panic if they understand the realities of terrorism.
Aviv says this is a deadly mistake.
Aviv recently created/executed a security test for our Congress, by placing an empty briefcase in five well-traveled spots in five major cities. The results? Not one person called 911 or sought a policeman to check it out.
In his opinion, America hasn’t been yet ‘hurt enough’ by terrorism for their government to fully understand the need to educate citizens or for the government to understand that it’s their citizens who are, inevitably, the best first-line of defense against terrorism.
He stresses the importance of having a plan, that’s agreed upon within your family, to respond to in the event of a terrorist emergency. He urges parents to contact their children’s schools and demand that the schools, too, develop plans of actions, as they do in Israel .
Aviv says that the U. S. government has in force a plan that, in the event of another terrorist attack, will ” immediately cut-off everyone’s ability to use cell phones”, Blackberries, etc., as this is the preferred communication source used by terrorists and is often the way that their bombs are detonated.
How will you communicate with your loved ones in the event you cannot speak? You need to have a plan, he concludes. (ANI)

Shucks, RS, I consider the current administration and appointees terrorists.

All one can do is be aware. I've noticed that these kind of posts (basically asking people to be more alert of their surroundings) is like preaching the choir on this forum; with that said, one cannot be reminded enough.

that's sobering, but its sort of how I thought it might happen next. Wish more people would wake up, we can learn a lot from others that have been dealing with this for much longer.

SNOPES says "nopes"...
For some reason, this "new information" pops up on the internet every now and then. The quoted remarks (and even they are not accurate) were given 4 years ago.
snopes.com: Juval Aviv Terrorist Predictions
I have no doubt we will see another major attack here in the US and I don't think it will be too much longer. Personally, I suspect something along the lines of suicide/homicide bombers and random shooters in areas such as shopping malls. Unfortunately, when the false stuff starts circulating around on the internet, a "cry wolf" mentality starts to develop in the general (read as "head up butt") public.

Although this is old, its been common knowledge among the "inner circle" that it will happen again at some point. I personally think that it is going to happen before this year is done. However, I've been wrong once before.

Unfortunately, a very possible (likely) scenario.
The timing would be adequate, in a few months, as the "stimulus" will have shown it is not working, such an attack could further crash what's left of the economy.
At that point the administration could declare emergency powers and ... do I need to elaborate.
Cell phone network shut down, I've heard that recently again.
I am glad we both have "ham" radio licenses, HF/VHF/UHF capabilities and the knowledge to make it work under difficult situations.
Note to self: need to check back-up batteries in all radios.
Actually, what I don't understand is, why it has not happened yet.
We are going towards "interesting" times

The second rule: "Bring enough gun"

Yes, practical security is laughably and sadly lacking. Whether something "big" is going to happen within a few short months or not is anyone's guess. Wouldn't surprise me.

It is only a matter of time. I expected it earlier in the year (but after 1/20/09), but it will happen. The responses, or lack thereof, will teach us many things.

I've always said after about 3 years after 9-11 we were either extremely lucky or there were some talented people in the Bush administration doing a very good job preventing another attack. Somehow I think it was both. I'm not sure how long our luck is going to last.

As has been pointed out, the 'breaking news' is very old. If you claim it will rain repeatedly eventually you will be right and hailed as the next Nostradamus.
As it turns out, George Bush and his policies (including the Patriot Act) have kept us safe for eight year. Most people don't give him the credi he deserves. They think the enemy determines when and where we are attacked. We brought the war to the enemy for exactly that reason.
The fact is that our heightned security measure, seen and unseen, are effective. People laugh at what they see as ineffective and sometimes tests demonstrate flaws in the systems. That is what tests are designed to do! I wonder why we never hear of the successful tests that prevent contraband from entering secure areas.
Without getting too political, the current Administration's policies and mindset as well as the apathy of the public encourage another attack. If it does happen, I hope and pray that the liberals will wake up and the President and Congress cease their domestic policy nonsense and focus on the main objective of the Federal government: National Security.
