Don't forget the $25.00 Hazmat fee to ship these items by common carrier.
This post corrected in Post #6
There is no Hazmat fee for shipping ammunition via UPS, but it does have to be marked ORM-D, or the current equivalent information, as I just read that the classification is being changed.

I don't believe loaded ammunition qualifies for a hazmat fee; at least I've never paid one and I've purchased plenty of SD ammo mail order. I know it needs an ormd label though.

I've shipped ammo (private residence to private residence) with UPS...no problems, and no special fees.

Just curious, did you tell UPS you were shipping ammunition?

After considerable research on UPS.com, I have found a forum with the answer;

Can you ship 12 and 20 gauge shotgun shells and if so how should they be packaged?

Are there any additional charges or do standard ground rates apply within the lower 48?

Yes, Tammy, you can ship cartridges via ground. As these are considered hazardous materials (Hazmats), the box must be labelled as follows: "ORM-D." Thanks for the question. Best, The Compass Guy

Jay: There are no additional charges for standard ground shipping of these materials. Regards, The Compass Guy
Please ignore my earlier post suggesting a HAZMAT fee.
