Book Exchange / Paying It Forward: Pat Frank's Alas, Babylon

I have a copy of Pat Frank's 1959 novel Alas, Babylon. It's a reasonably realistic view of what challenges a small community can have, when SHTF. Well written, paperback, good condition.

No, I do not want it but I read it when it came out and found it a good read. At the time of publication I was living within 10 miles of Tangerine, home of the author.
Correction, I 'll take it as the DW says she has never read it, just remember me talking about it.
    thanks,

Ft Repose was based on the small town of Mount Dora Florida. During my early school days (for those of us that remember the "duck and cover" drills in school). It was REQUIRED reading for us grits and crackers.

oldogy gets it. It'll be in the mail today. Enjoy!

And, pass something else along, in a similar way. Let's keep the wheel turning, offering up simple items that others could enjoy.

Found an original copy of that book (from around the early 60's) in our school library just a week or two ago.
Our school cop pointed it out to me...and it's sitting on my desk as we speak. He said it was worth reading.
I have perused several chapters so far, but not read the whole thing. It points out things you you might not think about in a real SHTF scenario.

This is a good opp and a quick read for someone...

Many thanks. I will see that it gets passed on as it is a great WTSHTF read. The characters make some mistakes if I remember correctly, such as having a freezer full of meat when the power goes out.
I think that is the book. But again, I read it almost 50 years ago.
A friend of mine knew the author but even living so close I never did. But I was trying to make a living then, not socialise.

A really good book, even if a little dated in parts. I did a book report on it, we had to make a poster as if we selling it.
