I am not all that fond of some of their policies but the money I spend for membership is well worth the realization to political foes that there is one more number watching them.
Wife and I just joined this weekend...
Good organization, been meaning to join for years, I've just always found something else to do with the 25-35 bucks![]()

I will be joining soon. I for a long time disagreed with some of what they have done, but, I gotta flow power to them for all they have done. I will also flow dough to GOA and JPFO too. Gotta cover my bases!

I was a member in the 80's & 90's and got mad because of the weekly calls begging for money and daily mail begging for money, then when the Clinton ban happen I said I had seen enough and I didn't renew, fast forward to last year I am now older and realize that nothing in life is perfect and if I don't belong to the biggest group I am no help in the "cause". i joined again as a life member this time.
So now as a life member I am able to vote and possible get rid of the people that are not making the decisions I think they should, and I also called them and said please don't call me or mail anything that is begging for money. In the past year I get nothing except the monthly magazine, and the e-mails I signed up for from the ILA.
So to address the highlighted parts of your comment, if you are a life member or at least 5 year member you can vote to change the management you do not like, and any member can request they not bother you with solicitations.
Hope that help.
Joined recently myself during a visit to a local gunshow in Middletown. The NRA rep caught my attention, said his piece and I signed up immediately. Prior to being a gun owner (pistol), I had believed the NRA to be a "hunting interest" organization which I think is the attitude of many people not associated with firearms, you know - "...for them folks what likes to shoot turkeys and stuff...". Since becoming aware of the choke hold of state and federal governments, I am more than an avid supporter of any association in the business of 1.educating the general public and eliminating much of the ignorance surrounding legal gun ownership beyond an over/under shotgun; 2. educating the government bodies that purposefully make laws at the bidding of the general public without caring of the effects of such laws regarding legal ownership of firearms by those who are familiar with crime statistics and police response times.
I will never forget that I am an American, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.
Lol, your mailman and mailbox will hate you, but wtg. They are looking out for our interests.

I'd been an on-again off-again member since the middle '80's. I realized that although you may not totally agree with certain stands and/or decisions that are made, ultimately this fight for our 2A rights is a VERY LONG TERM fight and the NRA has been fighting for those rights for many years.
Sorry for the 'soapbox'.
My uncle left me some money when he passed a year ago and I felt that purchasing a Life Membership was a good way to honor and remember him.![]()
