A friend recommended this forum. Been shooting 1911s since the sixties. Did IPSC for a while in the eighties until it became more game than practical, and my vision headed south, making picking up the front sight a lot harder.
Switched to highpower service rifle (M1, then M14, then AR15) for a while. Peep sights helped with the vision.
Had cataract surgery in the shootin' eye recently and corrected for middle vision. And there is the front sight again!
I CC as much as possible (licensed) and carry either a 1911 Kimber Compact, full size Colt Series 70 Customized 1911, or a S&W 642 when it gets really hot, which is most of the time "down south" where I live.
Don't shoot as much as years ago because I haven't the time to reload. So, I bought a Marvel Precision .22 conversion and dropped it onto one of my 1911s and mostly shoot that at the range, focusing on a flash sight picture and getting some speed back. Besides it is fun!
Joined the plastic pistol club recently with an XD45, like it, but they do have some issues, which SAI corrected with the M version, and the bad guy rifle club with an AK, which I dearly love! Should have done that years ago!
