I was raised in Pennsylvania but have been in Virginia for 40 years. I am not in Law Enforcement, but have competed in IPSC and PPC events in past, but not for past 15 years. I just got CCP and carry a PPK/S. Plan to order some +p ammo for serious social situations. I used to reload when I competed, and may get back into that. There is probably another .45 in my future.
One thing that has happened over the years is that I have no line trifocals and have to hunt pretty long to focus on front sight in the narrow closeup portion of my lens. For this reason the crimson trace laser sounds like it would benefit me greatly.
My daughter married a paramedic 2 years ago, who has since completed police academy and is on local force. He served as Green Beret in Afghanistan and Iraq. We get along real well and have shooting in common. Also, I have all confidence he can take care of my little girl.
Indoor range has just opened up 3 miles from my house, and the University I work at (Liberty) has a range for its police force that all students and staff can use if they take safety course. 20 years ago it was hard to find a place to shoot around here.

nor the warrior for his glory.
I love only that which they defend.

Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Welcome from Lynchburg, VA! I'm glad to see someone so close to home on this forum, and I take it from your username that you are a photographer as well? Excellent! I also have a good friend on the LU police force, as well as a few LEO's and more firefighters and paramedics in town.
Sounds like your daughter found a good man, and it is made so much better by the fact that you two seem to enjoy each others company!
PM inbound with info on our second indoor range hopefully to be opened soon.
Hopefully I'll see you around!

Welcome, hope you do the 12 step Yankee rehabilatation plan that I did in western NC. Starts with saying "y'all" and ends with using the word "fixin'" as a future tense verb.

"Y'all" comes pretty easy, but "Youz guys" is still the norm.
