Well, I finally took the CHL course at TargetMasters in Garland and sent the paper work in the first Monday in August. Now I'm trying to sort out what kind of weapon(s) to carry and how to carry it. I had originally purchased an XD SC 9mm, but I'm thinking that might be heavier and bulkier than I want to carry. Being a short but bulky person myself (5'4", 240lb), and seeing the challenges that leads to in concealed carry, I'm leaning towards a Kahr PM9 or CW9.

I'm also considering getting a Beretta Tomcat, Sig 238, Kahr 380 or Ruger LCP. The 380 ammo seems to be so hard to come by, I'm less inclined to get one.

I'm liking the Supertuck, but the Cell Pall looks like it might work better on my body type.

Great discussions here. I really like this board!

Welcome aboard.

I wouldn't give up on that XD SC for carry. Look into some quality holsters, and I'm sure you can make it work. There’s plenty of good advice available in the “Defensive Carry Holsters & Carry Options” forum. You’ll be better served by that 9mm than a .380, when it comes to terminal ballistics and cost of practice ammo.
