Thank You for the welcomes. Searching for information on what to carry is what lead me here. From what I've read so far, I am leaning towards purchasing a J-frame 38 for me and the wife. I am also very interested in the G27. We do have a gun range close to us, so that we can rent and try.

Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

J-frames and GLOCKS are pretty popular concealed carry weapons. I trust my life to a GLOCK 19. Definately take the time and spend the money to test fire what you can before buying a gun that doesn't work for you. Also consider cost and availability of ammunition, not just hollow points, you'll need loads of practice/range ammunition. If you can conceal it, .38 spl +p and 9x19 (Luger) are what many consider to be the minimum for self defense. Sure a .22 lr is definately lethal, but your chances of stopping the threat quick are better with .38 or 9x19.
