Capitan, my hunting area. I put in a bow tag for deer and elk in that area (Capitan Mountains/Wilderness) every year. I mostly always get deer but elk has been hard to come by for that area. Can you believe it got down to about -25 degrees in that area this week.

I can believe it, my Dad was trying to figure out where he was going to get more wood for the woodburning stove. (After a couple of mild winters he didn't get as much wood as he normally does.) Another week or two of cold and I think they'll eat the horses!
I've spent some time roaming around the tops of the Capitans and it is beyond gorgeous up there. My Dad lives in the subdivision between Capitan and Ruidoso, there's some BLM land out there that's he's seen elk on every now and then, lots of deer too, tearing up the trees and ruining his garden.
