New kid from the Keystone State

And when I say kid, I really do mean it. I'm 18 years old with only minimal experience with firearms. I've actually never shot anything above a BB gun which is a little embarrassing. However, gun safety was pushed onto me at a young age (12-13 years) so I'm not totally lost. With my inheritance of a few handguns, I figured now would be the time to stop lurking and actually get involved.

I just want to get as much information as I can before I even think about applying for a concealed carry permit once I hit that time. Knowing is half the battle right?

Welcome PARandom, this is a great site to get information and informed opinions on a wide range of issues concerning carrying a handgun. I can't stress enough getting to a well-qualified gun safety course (or courses) and getting firearms safety training, hands on experience, and familiarity with your state gun laws. I've only been carrying a short time (and I'm no "kid") but I feel that the courses I've taken have been invaluable to me in taking on what is a substantial responsibility.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I've already begun familiarizing myself with the laws in my state. I guess at this point I'm just looking for courses to reinforce the safety aspect as well as giving me hands on experience. Being a teenager makes it hard for me to get anywhere that isn't right around the block but I'll start looking. I would love to attend a class somewhere, sometime.

    Yo Joe!

Welcome to the forum, a lot to be learned and this a great place to do it. Seek some basic pistol courses in your area.

    Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
