My name is Chris and just moves from Seattle to Madison Wi. Aparently this is a Non-CCW state so my Washington state CCW is no good. It is a felony for me to carry my Keltec P3at here-anywhere unless I happen to be ret.law enforcement. I had no choice in moving here as this is where my ailing parents live and they need my care. Would you guys/gals carry in the face of possible fellony weapons charges? Right now I do but I know If I have to defend myself against a gun wielding criminal then I will probably get thrown in jail and have all of my guns confiscated. What happened to my constitutuional rights in Wisconsin?

Hi Chris - it is never a good idea to break the law (IMHO). I would find a legal alternative for personal defense when I'm out and about, and leave my firearms at home, if I were you. In the mean time, use your voting power to help change WI statutes regarding 2A.

Welcome to the DC Forum from Delaware!

I would not break the law, why give up any chance at future cc should the laws get changed, or even the right to own a gun.

    Welcome from Michigan.

There are other options for self-defense besides a gun. Knives, pepper spray, feet and fists come to mind right away. By CC contrary to your state laws, you maybe putting your ailing parents at even more of a risk. You are running the chance of a simple traffic stop turning in to a felony arrest followed by prison time. How well off will your parents be then? I would rethink that decision, but it is your decision to make.

    Good luck.

    Welcome aboard from New Jersey.
As the others said...don't carry. I hear the laws in Wisconsin are about to change anyway.

    Welcome fellow Chris from Orlando.

Personally I try whatever I can to not break laws when it comes to guns. Guns are a huge part of my life and occupy a lot of my time I can't imagine having all this taken away from me. Find some other method of defense and start making calls, writing letters, and emails to your representatives. I'm sure there are a couple grassroots organizations that would love your support in the fight to increase your gun rights there.

Don't break the law. Get yourself some OC/pepper spray and a TDI knife.

Welcome to the forum from Virginia.

As to breaking the law and carrying, I wouldn't do it. If caught you will lose your right to own a firearm, not only in WI, but in every other state as well. There are alternatives to a firearm for protection, OC, a knife, or you might start using a good quality heavy cane. Also if I am not mistaken, WI is an open carry state, depending on the area your located in. You might want to check that out as well. I'm sure WI also has a grassroots organization that could help you as well.
