    New member from S.W. Virginia

    Hello Defensive Carry Forum members,

    I reside in the gun friendly south and have spent much of my life enjoying the outdoors in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Firearms are a way of life here and I am proud of the fact that I had knowledgable mentors to teach me along the road.

    I grew up shooting and hunting, basically I just liked the shooting part being that I am impatient and hate to sit quietly waiting for an animal to appear. I began my life long love of the gun by following my Grandfather, Father, and Uncles to deer hunting camps shortly after the time I learned to walk.

    I garnered a reputation for engaging in target practice while others were trophy hunting. Although I have taken game occasionally I do not enjoy the taste of wild meat. So now I am just a shooter and no longer a hunter.

    I have concealed a handgun on my person almost every day since I turned 21. In fact I would feel like I wasn't wearing pants if I didn't have a pistol stuck in my waistband, actually my pants wouldn't fit right if I wasn't armed.

    I enjoy discussing many topics, my favorite being the defensive use of the firearm and methods of doing so. I have experimented with many different manufacture's equipment and am happy to advise others on what has worked for me, not that this will be best for you.

    Many times I encounter the "this is the best and everything else sucks" point of view regarding weapons and gear. I do not subscribe to this mind set; what works for one does not always go for all. This is the principal I hope to bring to the forum and that I can learn from all of you as you all may learn from my past experiences.

    Thanks for starting an interesting forum and I look forward to enjoyable discussions here.
