Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem."

I do not think the question is entirely a legal one. You might also ask those who know you best and who care about you if you are sufficiently OK to take on the responsibility. Since you came here to ask, my guess is that you probably are, but those closest to you would know.
Many with mild forms of autism suffer from Asperger's. They can be quite intelligent but tend to be socially awkward. Are your social skills, including your ability to read the body language of others and to assess situations correctly, sufficiently refined that you won't make errors of judgement about the use of lethal force?
Good luck to you, and continue to take a cautious and informed approach to this matter.
