Question regarding eligibility
Hello, I just joined and have a question. I have been diagnosed with mild autism and would like to know if this disqualifies me for a concealed weapon permit. I live in Jackson county Indiana. If anyone has knows anything about the obstacles, or brick walls I might run into some insight would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome from Southwestern Virginia. I've never read anything anywhere that would disqualify someone with autism from having a concealed weapon permit. Check with your local issuing agency for a definite answer.

Local laws are so varied that you must get that information from your sheriff of a knowledgable individual. Greetings from Rocky Top Tennessee

I can't answer your question directly, but this might be comforting to you. I do know somebody in Texas who was diagnosed with mild bi-polar disorder and treated. Technically, there is some wordage in the Texas CHL requirements regarding bipolar. Still, they were issued the license without question. I believe the deal is that they just went to their own doctor and sought medication for it. They were never institutionalized so the government probably has no record of it. I probably wouldn't worry about it unless you've spent time in a mental institution.
