    Greetings from NC

    Hello all -
    I've been lurking for a while and decided to plunge in. I am waiting for my CCP to arrive next month. Step-son LEO wants me to start to carry. As I enter retirement, I am planning a long-distance hiking trip. Hearing that, he gave me his 'look' and now INSISTS that I carry.

    I am getting a Sig 229 in 9mm for home and general carry purposes, and plan on getting a Glock 26 for when I am hiking and everything gets dirty.

    Being new to concealed carry, I want you to know that I have already learned a lot from the experienced folks here, just by lurking. Now that I can join in the conversation and ask all my beginner questions, I know I will learn even more. Thanks in advance.

    While I have shot rifles and shotguns before, I had never fired a handgun until two months ago. After a quick lesson, and a box of 50, the Range Officer said 'He's a shooter." I guess that's a good thing?
