    Greetings From Connecticut

    Good Day Everyone,

I ran across this website when trying to find out what the actual difference was between Springfield's XD and XDM. I got the answer and a treasure trove of good knowledge...Bonus! I recently retired from the military, I was a rescue swimmer on sh-60 Seahawks initially, then got a little older...was getting way too sore the next day. I switched NEC's to a Corpsman and stayed until retirement. Connecticut requires NRA's basic safety course before you can even put in your application for a "pistol" permit. According to the law you need this permit to be able to buy a handgun. Funny thing is, once you have the ability to buy a handgun, you also can open/conceal carry as well. I have been researching this hosed up state. I used to live in California, I thought their gun laws were strict, but I was able to obtain a safety course waiver because of the military background. I never tried to get a carry permit, the gun dealer told me that you actually have to provide them with a reason why you need to carry a handgun! Connecticut is an open carry state, but don't be caught open carrying or you will be arrested for disturbing the peace. They prefer you to carry concealed, I think that is how they get around not having to reciprocate. Alright enough rambling, look forward to learning and making friends!

    Jeff

Welcome to the forum and also as a resident of our 'fine' state of Connecticut.
We've got a lot of work yet to do to straighten this place out.
You've picked one of the best forums with a bunch of fine professionals.

    Again, welcome!
