    How'dy do from Sacramento area

Hey, y'all! I'm a newbie living in Dixon, CA just a few minutes outside of downtown Sacramento, CA.

Having served 6 years full-time in the Army National Guard and a tour in Iraq, I'm no stranger to weapons. I purchased a very nice Sig with our unit patch and some other tour related items engraved into it. I'm an expert shooter (not the best, but good) both on the M4/M16 riffle and M9 handgun.

I sat down to purchase some rounds for my 45 Sig P220 and WHOA is there a lot out there! I have grown accustomed to just getting a box of rounds, being told "load your magazine" and lay some rounds down range. I could pick that cardboard box of rounds of standard military issue out of a line up - but I cannot pick a box of rounds for my own hand gun!

Google being my best friend, I stumbled upon this forum in my search for the cleanest, least jamming, least problematic, best value rounds for my Sig. I'm so happy I did. I have a lot to learn - well at least before I take my brother-in-law to the range and learn him some stuff. I have to teach him before my "hood fabulous" husband gets to him and teaches him all of the wrong ways to do things.

So anything any of you experts have to offer, I welcome all tips and comments.
Now - if I could just keep my husband from offering his "hooducation"...

If you have never broken your gun or bled on your gun in training, you're doing it wrong!

Welcome from Virginia. As to ammo, if all your looking for is ball type ammo, most anything will work. I shoot Federal Champion through both my Dan Wesson 1911 and Kahr CW45. I'd steer clear of any steel case ammo, some guns will function fine with it, others hate it. For defensive round (hollow points) I'd stick with name brand ammo. Federal, Winchester or Speer. Get a box of each and see which works best from your gun.
