    Hello from "Vacationland"

    I've made a couple posts and then I realized I should make an intro thread.

    I live in the great state of Maine, and I'm a fireman by trade. Other than firearms I'm big on skiing (whoda thunk it?) and Jeepin'. Many other outdoor activities as well, hunting, camping, etc. I rot my brain with video games from time to time as well.

    I'm in the waiting process for my concealed handgun permit, and my carry weapon is a Springfield XD9 sub-compact. It's my only handgun at this point in time, a "gift" from my father being only 20 years old. If I had to guess I'd say I've put about 1,500 rounds through it. Always practicing and working at being a better marksman. (I plan on purchasing a pocket .380 or 9mm on my 21st )

    Other than that I've got a few firearms, a .22 and a 20 gauge that I've had since I was younger (boy scouts!) and an 1894 Winchester .30-30 for hunting, and a Century GP1975 AK for some serious plinking/SHTF.

    Looking forward to expanding my limited knowledge on the subject of self defense and concealed carry.

    Western Foothills area, in my opinion it's the best area to choose from, for me. Skiing at the "big 3" (Sunday River, Sugarloaf, Saddleback) are all around an hour give or take 15 minutes, and all the bigger cities are about the same drive time. Keeps me away from those that are "from away" but everything is still within reasonable distance.
