I'm quite fond of the progression myself. I gotta say though that I was surprised to find very little supporters for the NRA here in Texas. By supporters, I mean active members. I found more people in OC Cali who supported the NRA financially than I do here. I have come to think that because the people here in Texas have fairly liberal gun rights, they do not feel threatened and thusly do not feel the need to support such activities. California on the other hand, we (NRA members) strike up good conversation at the grocery store parking lot for sporting a member sticker. However, we also enjoy the pleasures of buffing out a fresh keying to our truck or a new set of tires for such lewd conduct as the member sticker. I've been here two years and I have not experienced the latter thus far. I like Texas; my kind of floks.

A good observation...in California, gun rights are continuously under fire (pardon the bad pun...), and gunowners feel they need the support of a large, powerful outfit like the NRA...
Texans don't feel that same pressure, and therefore aren't focused on financially supporting an organization that doesn't really need to commit resources to thier state.

However, when national legislation is threatening all gunowners, you will see the NRA membership double pretty quickly...
