Hello. I am Dan Montgomery and I've just signed on to this forum. I'm fairly new to shooting and the CC lifestyle. In fact, my required training was last weekend, now 84 days from receiving my CPW.
I'm here to watch, read and learn. It is a great responsibility to carry a firearm, even more then it is my right as an American. I want to carry it thoughtfully and, as much as realistically possible, be prepared.
But, I've discovered that shooting is also fun (calling it 'a blast' is begging the pun). Its kind of like golf, except that it has a very real off-course application. Projecting a relatively small object over a distance with optimum precision is becoming a real obcession for me.
I have a Springfield XD9 Service model that I love to shoot, its size seems a bit impractical for EDC. I am in security and it is an excellent duty weapon, but a brick IWB. There are a couple of options I'm considering, S&W642, Beretta Nano, Walther PPS (if I decide to stay with a semi, I want to standardize for now.) But, there is time to make that decision. At least until late April I'll go to the range and work on consistant shooting.
Thanks for a great forum and I look forward to reading all of your posts.
Well, most of them, at least.
