new from tn and asking for your input
Hello from middle Tn! I have been greatly enjoying reading the threads on here. Anyway,i have a question that i was asked today and i was unable to give any advice. My cousin wants to get his carry permit very soon, but he has a few blemishes on his background from many years ago. Nothing bad enough that keeps him from entering a gun shop and purchasing a new handgun as he has bought many the last few years. However, from what i understand the carry permit has a much more extensive search than a firearm purchase? He is concerned about investing all his time and money into getting the permit, just to be turned down. Any input i could relay to him is greatly appreciated, thanks!

A fellow middle Tennessean here. Go to the states website regarding the TN handgun permit rules and regs. Should tell you all you want to know.

We should not forget that the spark which ignited the American Revolution was caused by the British attempt to confiscate the firearms of the colonists. -

Welcome from Virginia.
I doubt the vandalism would have an affect. The assault could, especially if it involved domestic violence.

welcome from Texas, I agree check the Tenn web page, he can also ask a friend who is a police officer to run a background check and see what is actually in it... the assualt could be a show stopper for seven years if it shows up...

Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
