Brazil is not a "gun friendly" country. Unfortunaly the government is restricting the gun rights and it's too difficult to have a legal gun here.
We have restrict laws about guns and calibers. Civilians can carry the .32, .38, .380 and other "small" calibers handguns. The law enforcement Officers can have this ones and the .40 S&W. The military can have 9mm and .45. If you are a sport shooter or collecionist you can have more guns and a variety of calibers.
The CCW permit for civilians are issued for exceptional cases. You can have a registered gun in your home for defense, but to carry it you must have to ask for the permit and pay for it. It's like 500USD/year and keep a clean police record.
The costs are high. One .380 glock here costs more than 2k USD. A 1911 style pistol in .40 costs more than 1.5k for police officers. We have Taurus And Imbel as manufacturers. If you ask for permition, you can import guns also.
The ammo cost is also high. A box of .40 magtech First Defense (here it's CBC copper bullet) costs 150USD for 50 rounds. There's a limit of 600 rounds/year for LEO.
All this limitations turn shooting too expensive for the average joe to do. The government is active trying to reduce the nmber of guns on the street in the hands of good citizens. The problem is the ilegal guns in some cities. Like all other countries, the violence and drugs are raising and withnthis, the ilegal gun market.
Not the best place to gun owners and shooters, but a nice place to live!
