    Greetings from Massachusetts

Hello from the People's Republic of Massachusetts. While we have many onerous and confusing gun laws in this state, one can get, after taking a safety course, passing a background check, and paying a $100 fee, a license to carry. Such a license is issued at the discression of the police chief of one's town/city. It may be issued for All Lawful Purposes or restricted for such things as target shooting or sporting purposes only. Many towns routinely issue unrestricted licenses, but many also will issue only restricted licenses, all at the discretion (whim) of the police chief. Other than pre-ban magazines, we are limited to 10-round firearms and dealers can only sell handguns that are on the Attorney General's approved list, which leaves out many desirable guns (especially Glocks).

Welcome from your neighbor in Rhode Island. Here too, we are subjected to an incredulous number of regulations whilst TRYING to obtain a carry license.

Things are pretty messed up in regards to carry license issuance. Most any 'business' owner that is carrying cash can get a license, but it's often restricted. I've had a CCW license for over 30 years now, and I had to plead my case directly at AG's office in Providence to get the 'unrestricted' license, with firm warnings to NOT carry while dining in city or attending downtown shows or events, etc, etc, etc. I understand what they're trying to do, but I am not the troublemaker kind. It's the gang-bangers and drug dealers that are wreaking all the gun violence, NOT the guys like us here.

A Marine Colonel (retired) at my local gun club could NOT get a carry license, even though he was in charge of security operations at numerous bases all around the globe. My goodness, if there's ANYONE you would want armed, it's a guy like that. Unreal.

    Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Welcome from your neighbor to the north, VT.
