New from NY
Hello Everyone :)
I'm am new to gun ownership and have never actually seen let alone fired a gun before. I have recently applied for my license and will be taking a number of safety and fire courses. In doing a lot of research, I believe and support fully carry/cc and the rights of citizens to do so, lawfully. I know it's completely normal to change my views, being I'm so new, but I firmly believe in gun safety and gun rights. Let's face it, most "bad guy criminals" don't take into account if their permit is in dwelling or cc. They purposefully and tactfully wait for the moment their victim is in a vulnerable position and they attack; therefore, I currently believe guns as self defense can only legitimately help innocent would-be victims by being on their person. I totally understand and support the need for laws to make sure caution and preventative steps are taken, I wish there was more of a balance. I THINK: putting a provision allowing "training" gun owners, over 21, to have legal opportunities to familiarize themselves with guns and shooting would help. Maybe there should also be a requirement, at ow cost and easy availability, for prospective ccw be allowed unrestricted licenses if they take a certain number of defensive safety classes. I also feel that most crimes with handguns are by illegal handguns and of all the forums I've read, most responsible gun owners (i.e. restricted or otherwise licensed gun owners) do like to even have to draw there weapon and will ONLY do so in cases of life or death situations. Most forums even mention just showing they were armed was enough to avert danger and they following due diligence by not placing themselves in potentially dangerous and unnecessary situations which could increase the necessity of force.
Anyway, I like camping, hiking, and am interested in learning about gun safety, ccw laws, archery, hunting, "and other lawful purposes" lol, jj.
Nice to meet everyone...as a newbie, I'm hear to listen and learn.
thank you for your consideration!

Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
