I am a 68 year old semi-retired electrical engineer who has owned a .45 ACP Colt's M1911-A1 Government Model Series 70 Mk IV since the early 1970s. I fired a few hundred rounds of Federal and Remington 230 gr JHPs when I first bought the gun NIB at Miami Valley Shooting Grounds. After that it mainly sat in a drawer, next to the bed, loaded with thirty year old ammo, but without a round chambered. It's a wonder I didn't ruin the magazine spring.
My neighborhood has changed a lot since 1970 when I first bought a small three-bedroom house here. So, two months ago, my wife and I joined a private indoor shooting range, Sim-Trainer Academy LLC, took their Ohio CCW training course, and I applied for and received my CCW license. My wife is dragging her feet on getting hers, waiting I think until I take an acceptable photo for her CCW license application.
In the meantime, wife bought a nice little Ruger stainless-over-black polymer SR9c and is dilligently reading the "Cornered Cat" by Kathy Jackson in preparation for selecting two or more concealed carry holsters. I sure hope this isn't going to be like buying shoes. I am waiting for Rockwell Arms to send me a Wilson Combat bullet proof ambidextrous thumb safety for my 1911, and while I am waiting I am going to order an IWB Crossbreed holster and belt. We plan to practice weekly at the range as long as we can afford to buy ammo. We might have to give up a few nights out for dinner and a movie every month, but we both could stand to lose a little weight anyway.

Welcome from Tennessee. If your making the sacrifices of occasional date nights to do the shooting thing together, then its well worth it. Its a deffinate advantage having a spouse who enjoys it also.

Welcome aboard. Bad news, though... it IS like buying shoes (well, except the shoes shoot stuff in this case).
I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.
