Hello From The Texas Hill Country!

Just a short note to say hello and give a thank you to my friend, First Sgt, who referred me. He and I were in the military together, fighting the Commies from England during the Cold War. (And thank you to the English gals who made the Cold War a bit warmer! :)

My girlfriend and I own a ranch near Kerrville, TX where we host Getaway weekends, primarily for women. We call the program "Botox & Bullets"(sm). During the weekend 4-8 women can take their Texas Concealed Handgun License course, or just get an introduction to guns and do some shooting. They will also enjoy the upscale lodge with pool/spa, and have an array of spa services...AND great food and adult beverages! It's a great Getaway, and an excellent way to introduce women to handguns. The classes are taught by Kathy (the Ranch Goddess) who is a world-class hunter, RN, MedSpa owner, and Home Health Care Agency owner...and a fabulous cook!

We find that in such a relaxed and friendly environment, women are more receptive to learning about handguns. Some go from thinking the gun on the table is a snake about to bite them, to begging for more range time so they can smell the smell and feel the kick (women have different sensory perceptions, ya know?). It's a thrill for us to see the transformation right before our eyes.

Of course, we only offer the introduction. We hammer home the point that there is MUCH more involved, through training and practice, to responsibly carry a concealed handgun. We try to make sure everyone fully understands the mental and emotional aspects to carrying a gun...and will you REALLY use it to kill someone? When we ask that question, the room goes silent. It is THE most important question, in my book.

So..here I am. Looking forward to sharing and learning from this forum.

If you like, we have a Facebook page at Botox and Bullets

    And thanks again First Sgt!

I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.

    Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
