Welcome to the forum from Northern California! I haven't been the same since visiting Alaska back in '05. (Halibut trip out of Homer) You say you're into reading and learning; Massad Ayoob has some great reads with a no BS approach. I'm sure you've heard of his readings if you've been lurking here long enough. Again, welcome aboard!

    Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Thanks for the Welcome! I currently live just outside of Anchorage although I spend summers in Nome and my winter weekends in Valdez or Seward.
Thanks for the reading suggestion, I am currently reading "In the gravest extreme" but I'll check out Mas' other books as well.

Welcome from Wisconsin, which martial art did/do you take? I used to be in judo and took jujitsu once a week, and I like to box in my free time. it's saved me a few times already.

Ah, ok. I am jealous. I miss Alaska a lot! I spent a little over a month in Seward, I found that I spent more time in traffic due to moose than anything else. Lol

Welcome, ElArdilla, from Missouri to a great forum with good folks and LOTS of info. Sounds like you have quite a background of experience - mutually beneficial for the forum and you.
