Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Welcome for S.E. Wisconsin. When my wife retires (soon) I think Austin will be the place for us. I have been to Austin every wednesday (home office of bank I worked for) in the mid 80's. I love the Oasis. Is "hippy hollow" still there? The only time I ever saw anyone water ski in the nude (female) was off the shore of "hippy hollow".

Thanks all for your warm welcome.
Except for the relatively high real estate prices I think Austin is a fine place to retire or put down roots. It is a very beautiful city with lots to do and great entertainment. It is a somewhat "liberal" city but you have to remember that it's "Texas Liberal" which passes for conservative in some parts of our fine country. Some describe it as a small purple island in a sea of red.
Hippy Hollow is still there and going strong, no one conceals much there. Many folks are working hard to keep the city motto "Keep Austin Weird" alive. It seems that any area with water around here is somewhat clothing optional but that's not as fun as it sounds. Usually the folks that like to "hang out" (literally) in the buff are folks who would benefit greatly from the concealing properties of clothing.
