Hello from Washington state.
I have been reading the boards here a while, and have decided to join. I am new to concealed carry, and new to firearms in general.
I am not carrying yet at this point. I have taken a basic pistol handling class and I'm taking another firearms safety class with my whole family in a few weeks. I don't want my kids to be afraid of firearms, and I want them to know how to handle them safely and have an appreciation for their PROPER usage.
I'm pretty much just taking it slow and careful as I learn. I am spending some range time trying to develop safe handling habits that I can rely on (and also to be able to hit what I aim at), and learning what I need to know from some more experienced folks. Once I've had some time with this, I will move into actually carrying my XD with me (at least sometimes).
I appreciate all of the great info and opinions on this site. They have been very helpful to me so far.
Thanks all.

Welcome,
Would you be willing to share the story of your journey? People around here are always interested in figuring out what triggers people to open their eyes and take responsibility for their own, and their family's safety.

I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.
