Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Welcome and congrats on the Shield. It'll be a good shooter for you I'm sure. For holsters look at Crossbreed, Comp-Tac or a variant of these IWB holsters. They're absolutely the most comfortable. With that said, and since you're new to this, you'll probably think you've gone over the top when you begin to fiddle with one of these style holsters in the beginning. Figuring out the height and cant and where it fits you best and fitting onto the belt, etc. First off, you'll figure all that out quickly. More importantly, the weight distribution is optimal in a double clip rig. It's all day comfort with a GOOD belt. Do you're research on that too. Don't cut corners on either holster or belt and you won't end up spending even more money to get it right the 2nd time or the 3rd time.
These words have steel. Most of us have a "holster drawer" that among other things, is home to bad buyers remorse.

As far as cheap SD ammo, you've got to ask yourself a question. How much is your life worth? Is it worth more than $25? Yes.
You've got a quality gun. Get a good holster designed for your gun, a good gun belt and quality SD ammo. Federal HST and Speer Gold Dot are very good. There is a plethora of good SD ammo out there.
Don't skimp on your SD ammo to save a few bucks. And be sure to shoot a box or two of the SD stuff to make sure your Shield likes it.
Most importantly, get some training from a qualified instructor. A 16-hour CC class is not enough.
