Welcome from NE. Renting first is a good option as already stated.

Serve my country, swear an oath to protect it, pay my taxes, fly old glory in the front yard, love and protect my family, honor the vets before me and help fellow americans in need.
By definition my country now calls me a radical

Hello, Metasin, and welcome from Missouri to this great forum. Good folks and LOTS of info here! I grew up in Lehigh County, SE PA, where my family still resides. For gun purchase, as mentioned by others, if you can rent and try out different pistols and find ones that you like, it is fine to purchase them now. It is most important that you choose a gun that you are comfortable with rather than getting one quickly. You can always take more extensive training after your initial qualification. I know in Missouri the qual shooting for a Permit is not at all difficult, and one can get training after that with your long-term weapon.
