Welcome from Orlando.
While I understand that is a bit underwhelming to get a Concealed Weapons License in Florida, it is our 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms.....so I feel that
even being forced to have a license to carry a weapon for self defense is not a good thing. Driving is a privilege, carrying a weapon is a constitutional right......but Tallahassee
needs the revenue, so I play by the rules. With right at 1,000,000 active concealed weapons licenses in Florida, just do the math to see what a great source of revenue the
licensing process is for the state.
Kimbers are the guns you show your friends....Glocks are the ones you show your enemies.

Squinn,
We took the course at the gun fair. Super simple an super cheap ($50). Don't expect her to learn anything very important in regards to carrying and or gun safety. There are good points that are reviewed, but it is certainly just a class to take a class. After that, you can mail in your packet or sch an appt at the local office to help expedite the process.
As for the fellow that commented on my "DIVE" cert comment. First, it was diving, not driving. Second, you make a very valid point of it being our right to bear arms and the fact that we have to be licensed can be viewed as an infringement on our fundamental rights.
I was really just saying how backwards it is that I have to spend x amount of classroom hours, x amount of underwater time, and pass a 100 question test just to do a sport so I don't kill myself, but to carry a deadly weapon concealed in public, 2 hr class and a 10 t/f test. However, after seeing all the issues the majority of our class had with filing out their paperwork, I do feel comfortable that 80% of them will never fully submit a completed application. Lol.

Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
