Hello Defensive Carry community!
My name is Alex and am originally from the UK. I moved to the USA in 2003 and have been enjoying the right to bear arms for as long as I have been legally able to. I gained US Citizenship in 2008 and got my concealed carry permit in 2010.
I rarely go anywhere unarmed, even within my own home and property. The only exception is work where they do not allow employees to exercise their constitutional rights. Unfortunately I am stuck in this regard, but respect their right to manage their business as they see fit.
My carry gun of choice is a S&W M&P 45c. I also have a Ruger LCR in .38 special that I carry more often in the summer months than the .45 due to weight and concealability.
I am an avid firearms collector and shooter and have many surplus firearms that I enjoy for historical reasons. My favorite gun in my collection though is probably my AR-15 that I built myself. Nothing fancy, standard M16 clone, but it's mine and I know it inside and out. No doubt I would be considered some sort of maniac terrorist for building such a fearsome device back in England, but thankfully here in the land of the free it is a non-issue, as it should be.
I look forward to becoming part of the furniture here, so to speak, and welcome the oppertunity to engage in extensive dialogue with like-minded fellows!
Regards,
Alex.

Mighty glad to have you! Welcome from the Commonwealth of Kentucky. I'm delighted that you now appreciate & enjoy a freedom that you were previously denied. It's a pity that more "native sons" don't recognize the invaluable inheritance passed to us by the original framers of our Constitution.

Welcome from Fort Worth, Texas.
Welcome to the forum. Welcome to the country. And if there are others like you in the UK, tell them to come on over.
For what it's worth, you might want to be careful about suggesting that others might perceive you as a "maniac terrorist" even if you are just joking...I'd like to suggest "gun enthusiast" as an alternative.

Greetings! I have spent a fair amount of time "across the pond" in England, love the place.

Majority rule only works if you're also considering individual rights. Because you can't have five wolves and one sheep voting on what to have for supper.

Unfortunately "gun enthusiast" has rather a more negative connotation back in old blighty. Most folks there believe that anyone interested in firearms is a nut job.

Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Just joking mate. Glad to see not every Englishman is completely backwards on gun control.
