Greetings from the Buckle of the Bible Belt, Chattanooga Tennessee! I went to Capetown in 1996 to look at the Capetown Bible Institute as a next assignment. It was beautiful there. The Institute is really close to the shore and my wife & I spent every evening watching the ocean and penguins. The dock for the police boat was right there so I talked with some officers about their job. I was a deputy sheriff for three years and a State Trooper for ten, so it was interesting to talk to them. They connected me with the local police equipment provider and I added two dozen metal breast badges and fifty patches to my collection. It was good for the visit & my collection but I could never have had worked there.

The idea was that I would take over as Dean of the Institute and bring them into the 21st century. But every few minutes, or whenever it seemed we were making any progress the little bell would ring and we would kill the next thirty minutes at “Tea Time.” It was driving me nuts. Tea Time had priority over classes. That “Internet thing” was just a passing fad and would never catch on. I spent the next ten years in Mexico, Then my final two in Peru.

    Take Care,
