MA Refugee, living in VA saying Hi all!

    Greetings all,

I'm currently a resident of central Virginia. I moved here a couple of years ago when I married my wife, whom I met in San Francisco... long story. Anyway, I was born, and grew up in, Massachusetts, about 35 miles outside of Boston. I was first exposed to shooting sports in cub and boy scouts, and my stepfather made sure that I was comfortable enough with the workings of firearms (mostly his old tube loaded Sears .22) to know when they were safe or not. I hadn't really considered CCW of anything other than a knife until I moved to a state that has a far better understanding of citizen's rights. With my wife, and probably a family on the way, I want to ensure that we are prepared at all times.

Currently, we've got an XD-40 in 4" with an XML light by the bed, stuffed to the gills with Hornady TAP, and 2 full 12 rd magazines. We also keep a Beretta Model 72 (.22LR) with the short barrel, since that is what her mother first used for a home defense weapon.

My intentions are to expand the home defense collection to include a Remington 870 based shotgun, and add a few CCW options - Possibly Kel-Tec, NAA, or Sig 232 in .380 ACP, and I think I'm falling in love with the Sig 226 SAS, with a nice set of brown leather to go with it - Maybe a shoulder rig, IWB, small of back... mmm leather.

    Sorry, got carried away.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to being part of the community!

    -Joe

Thanks. I was born in Lawrence, and grew up in Methuen, so I'm sure you're familiar with what kind of idiocy I had to deal with up there.

Welcome from another ex-MA resident. Grew up there and finally escaped four years ago. Don't miss it, won't go back.
