Great choice, if you're going to have only one (at least, to begin with). Hard to go wrong with it, so long as its ergonomics work well with you and you can be accurate with it. Hard to argue with a "classic."

There are lots of aspects worth considering, learning about. Including the nature of ownership and defensive use/carry in other places that many folks might not be aware of.

The Glock 19 is a nice gun as are most Glocks. I'm partial to the G 23 .40 cal myself.
