Brand new conceal carry in a state that allows this freedom more than most.
Glad to be part of this group. Being new, I have a lot to learn and maybe a little to contribute.
My wife and are are new gun owners all because of the way the world is today. For the past
40 years ago I would never have given a thought to owning a gun, but today is a different world.
We have been part of 2 handgun trainings and are looking to continue with more. Home and personal protection have become a very large part of our lives recently. Joined a conservation club and shoot every weekend.
Carry concealed. Mine a S&W Shield 9mm. The wife carries a Ruger LC9.
We plan and practice for all the worst scenarios, but hope we never have to draw our guns on anyone.

I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.

Welcome new member and new CCers. A CCer in Michigan said that.
Never challenge an old man, because if you lose, you’ve lost to an old man, and if you win, so what?

Welcome from Wisconsin! Scenario training is an important part of firearms training. Any training is worlds better that none at all, though. I'm glad you & your wife have seen the light & are preparing for the worst. The world has certainly changed in the 20 years. It seems to be getting bad as fast as our technology improves. Hmm - I wonder if that has anything to do with it? Nevertheless it's a lot crueler out there these days.

Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Welcome from Fort Worth, Texas.
I think many first time gun owners are making their purchases for the same reasons you and I did. Be safe.
