Came back after being gone for a month....
Hey everyone,
About a month and a half ago, I bought a Mossberg Mavrick Model 88 with the 18.5 barrel. I barely understood the inner workings of it. Anyways, I've been gone for a while, and figured
would reintroduce myself. Anyways, based on my noobish questions in a thread, I received mostly cautionary replies telling me to unload my gun, and don't shoot it until I get
more knowledgeable of it. Which I did during my month of being gone from this forum.
I'm proud to say, I read the manual front to back several times. I learned how to field strip it. I learned how to clean it with gun solvent and gun oil (it needed it! because I bought it from a pawn shop). I took it apart and put it back together about 20 times now. The last 5 times without the manual.
I just bought the same shotgun today, but brand spanking new. This Model 88 however, has the 26 inch barrel, for trap shooting. And guess what I did, I took it apart, and put it back togetheragain. Anyways, just wanted to say thanks for of your advice. And how can I get back to my original thread about shotguns? I kind find a "post tracker" in my profile.

Welcome home! Congratulations on successfully disassembling & reassembling your shotguns. Have you shot them yet? When you do give me a warning. I'd like to be some distance from you when you do, lol.

I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.

Congrats on becoming so "intimate" with the workings of your new shotgun. That knowledge will stand you in good stead, if you experience any issues with its performance. You'll get a feeling for when it needs a good cleaning, or more lubrication. Enjoy!

Gone a month?
When my wife is gone a month I actually enjoy it a bit.
OK, glad you're back...
