Hello from Illinois! Need some opinions please!
Hello all. I'm new to the forum and I want to get an opinion from everyone. If someone starts pounding at your front door at 8:00pm while you're sleeping, and doesn't stop pounding, I'm talking HARD. You look out your window and can't see who it is. They continue pounding, you walk to the door to look through the peephole and they're blocking it. You look out your window and don't see any cars or anything unusual, and they continue pounding. You shout "Who is it?!" Multiple tines and don't get a response, they just keep pounding as hard as they can. Do you get your gun ready before opening the door?

Do not open the door, retreat to your safe room and call 911. Let the police sort this out.

Get your gun ready but DON"T OPEN THE DOOR! A gun won't do you any good if he shoots first when you open it. Your gun should have been ready & reachable from your bed. When the door knocker refuses to answer you or refuses to state his business then a call to 911 is in order. If it's just an innocent person wanting to talk to you or maybe even scare you, that will teach him a lesson when the police come to question him.
Almost the same thing happened to me a long time ago when I was still living at home. I had a shotgun ready just in case he busted the door down. It was a drunken Irishman celebrating St. Patrick's Day who got the wrong house, lol. The police were called & they handled it.

Get all family members to designated safe room, get a phone to call the police, make sure your weapons are loaded, wait for police to come. If the intruder gets in before the police get there, be sure to put yourself (and your firearm) between you and your family. Also, get a dog. They're great additions for multitudes of reasons.

Welcome from Delaware! I'd call 911 and let them help the individual.

I agree with the above - DON'T open the door and call 911.

Welcome from SE Michigan. Strap on the pistols, find high ground and call 911.

Welcome from Virginia.
You should have already had your gun with you, before even checking out the situation. DO NOT open the door, call 911 and let the police handle it.
