    Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Hi Tracy, and welcome from Missouri to a really great forum. Good people and info here! With your intended carry method, I would recommend checking out a Taurus 709 Slim, S&W M&P Shield, or Kahr CW9, all in 9mm. These are the same size, small, polymer frame (for lighter weight), and thin compact handguns. I have the 709 Slim and Kahr K9 (all stainless version of the CW9), and very much like both for CC.

For additional information on self defense, check out the many free YouTube videos made by Massad Ayoob, a world-class instructor, who has recorded training sessions in Judicious Use of Force, Shoot to Live, Home Invasion, Preparation for Home Defense, and What to Do After a Shooting. Just Google his name and these topics and the YouTubes should show up. Very good instructional information from a recognized expert, and free.

And, best wishes for a safe, prosperous New Year to you and yours.
