Hello, Iconiclast, and welcome from Missouri to a really great forum. Good people and info here!
Since you are relatively new to this handgun, self defense arena, consider taking some good instructional classes in addition to the CCL class you took. I also recommend you check out the many free YouTube videos made by Massad Ayoob, a world-class instructor, who has recorded training sessions in Judicious Use of Force, Shoot to Live, Home Invasion, Preparation for Home Defense, and What to Do After a Shooting. Just Google his name and these topics and the YouTubes should show up. Very good instructinal information from an expert, and free.
And, best wishes for a safe, prosperous New Year to you and yours.

I have studied everything from Shotokan, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, and Boxing, to Fencing. I have recently taken up firearms. I purchased my first handgun (Gen4 Glock 19) and just received my concealed carry license. I am glad to be here and open to getting to know some of you as well as sharing in this learning experience. Thanks for having me!

Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
