New from Texas
After having Brother-in-Law and good friend suffer home invasion during past year I decided it was time to be prepared. Bought a Ruger LCR 38, went to CHL class and now awaiting my CHL. Chose the Ruger revolver for its simplicity since I have never owned anything but revolver and had not fired handgun in a long time. Dallas -Fort Worth area.

I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.

Welcome from Wisconsin! How so awful and scary for your brother-in-law and friend. After too many "close to home" incidents in my area, I too heeded the "wake-up call" to take responsibility for protecting my family. Glad you joined us, I think you'll find everyone here both helpful and knowledgeable. See you around the forums!

Hello, OldGrumpy, and welcome from Missouri to a really great forum. Good people and info here!
Sorry to hear about your friend and in-law suffering the home invasion. Check out the many free YouTube videos made by Massad Ayoob, a world-class instructor in handgun use and self defense, who has recorded training sessions in Judicious Use of Force, Shoot to Live, Home Invasion, Preparation for Home Defense, and What to Do After a Shooting. Just Google his name and these topics and the YouTubes should show up. Very good instructional information from an expert, and free.
And, best wishes for a safe, prosperous New Year to you and yours.

Welcome from a fellow Dallas member, and a new (and old) Ruger owner as well.
