I've been lurking, I might start posting.
I've been reading from this board for a few months now. I'm preparing for the day (early next year I hope) when our new policy in Kansas goes into effect. I've learned quite a bit so thank you all for posting here.
I'm a full time soldier; career counselor in the Army Reserve. I've been in for 9 years now (about 16 left to go) starting as a grunt. I'm originally from CA but I don't ever plan to move back. One of my biggest restrictions on carrying is my job; I can't carry at work, or in the company car (and I do drive a bit) so I definitely want to get something like pepper spray soon.
I started shooting as a cub scout and my skills have been dramatically refined by service. I mostly practice with my handguns these days but I also have some rifles and shotguns (2 of which are refugees belonging to family members in California where the weapons are no longer welcome).
I practice Aikido when I can. My shooting has been affected by it and it by my shooting. I never would have expected hand to hand arts and shooting to be so similar.
In the past 2 weeks I've completed the required training and submitted my application. The weapon I bought for this purpose is my 8th and a Glock 23C (.40, compact, compensated). I'm really wanting one of those S&W J frame 5 shot DAO in a .357 for a backup when the budget allows.
