    New member in Seattle, WA

    Hi there everyone,

    I was born in England (48 years ago), moved to Texas 7 years ago, wanted to apply for a CHL, but was told that I needed a green card before I could get a CHL license. After 6 years I was offered a chance to move to Seattle and took it, my green card finally arrived and I have now started the CWP license application here in Washington. I used to go to my local range in Texas with my wife and daughters (now 14 & 12) and rent rifles & hand guns and we would practice shooting and safe handling techniques (We had a great safety marshal at the local club). We all enjoy shooting and I am now getting everyone into clay's.. I have never purchased my own gun before (Only rented) and have never carried. I am not sure I want to carry, but I believe in everyone's right to be able to, it seems laws are becoming more and more restrictive so I have decided to apply for my license whilst it's still relatively easy to get, that way if I want/need to carry in the future I will have the option..

    I was amazed at how difficult it was to find any laws on concealed or open carry in Washington, maybe I am not using the correct search words..

    It will be at least 60 days before my license arrives, so I have some time to look at what kind of weapon I want to purchase and carry. I will try to find a local club where I can meet people and start discussing where on the body is a good place to carry, any comments/suggestions are very welcome.. As stated I am a complete noob to this.

    I found this site whilst trying to locate the WA state laws on firearms, so I hope you can help me in this new endeavor..

    My hobbies are motorcycles (Used to race on the track, but now ride on the street (Goldwing) and dirt (CRF450)), I have pilots licenses for both fixed wing and rotary wing (Helicopter), like to fly RC model aircraft and tinkering with electronics.. I am also a licensed HAM (Amateur radio)..

    All of the RCW references there can be looked up on the State of Washington website. They have a searchable RCW database that works great!
