We should not forget that the spark which ignited the American Revolution was caused by the British attempt to confiscate the firearms of the colonists. -

Hello, DesignDawg, and welcome from Missouri to a really great forum. Good people and info here!
Since you are new to this handgun, self defense arena, and looking to get informed, consider taking some good self defense handgun classes in addition to your CCW permit class. I also recommend you check out the many free YouTube videos made by Massad Ayoob, a world-class instructor in handgun use and self defense, who has recorded training sessions in Judicious Use of Force, Shoot to Live, Home Invasion, Preparation for Home Defense, and What to Do After a Shooting. Just Google his name and these topics and the YouTubes should show up. Very good instructional information from an expert, and free.
Here is a very good technical review of self defense ammo:
Best Choices for Self Defense Ammo
This is an informative review by a doctor of different gunshot wounds effects - good information to keep in mind:
Doctor Talks About Gunshot Wounds
Take care, and best wishes to you and your wife!

Welcome from South Carolina...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
