I see on the rules that we are discouraged from starting threads that involve "caliber wars". Any suggestions on how I should go about getting this advice?I bought a Beretta PX4 9mm standard.
Being that it takes two to war, I'd say ask your questions and ignore the folks that like to haggle over stupid stuff... The Beretta PX4 in 9mm is a fine pistol and will serve you well. The 9mm is probably the most widely used self defense round out there. I myself carry one quite often and have no fear of being out gunned by anyone carrying something larger. Quality ammo and your ability to place the rounds where they do the most good are the only real factors involved, as far as "caliber choice" goes that is. For the most part all the members here are respectful and very friendly to newcomers, so get out the sponge and soak it all up... Welcome the forum from N Georgia BTW.

    Welcome from Wisconsin!

I'm partial to .40 cal but any caliber is better than none. I've used everything from .22 to 12 gauge & wouldn't want to nbe shot with any of them. About the only one I haven't shot is 10MM & am anxious to give it a try.

Hello and welcome I'm from Rochester and still waiting after nearly 10 months for my CCW. Bying a gun is personnel preference but I would have gone to a gun shop and fired multiple guns to find out which one fits you the best.
