    Old newbie new member from the PNW (Oregon)

    I got to this site from some forgotten chain of mouse button clicks. But I liked what I saw here! It is obvious that I'm going to learn much from the experienced people contributing here. And so, here I am.

    I'm a newbie when it comes to guns too. When I was in college in Montana I did some hunting (deer, elk, grouse) and some playing around with shooting at targets (44mag revolvers). But that was 35 years ago and I haven't done a thing with guns since then. I guess the national scene has finally stirred me into feeling like it would be wise to change that situation.

    I'll be going to a concealed carry class tonight and will be signing up for some additional classes as I'll definitely need some training. Along the way it is good to know that there is so much support here for any questions I might have.

    FYI:

    If you're looking at some additional training, there's a pretty decent group up the road from Portland, in Onalaska WA. It's the Firearms Academy of Seattle (FAS). The Defensive Handgun course is worth considering.

    Another good one is Oregon Firearms Academy, in Brownsville OR.
    Your best weapon is your brain. Don't leave home without it.
    Thoughts: Justifiable self defense.
    Explain: How does disarming victims reduce the number of victims?
    Reason over Force: The Gun is Civilization (Marko Kloos).
