New Proud owner of a Kimber pro carry II(45 acp) and new to sight
Hi there I'm ponchaz. I'm New Proud owner of a Kimber pro carry II(45 acp) and new to sight. I haven't finished my guns recamended brake in of 400-600 rounds yet. But since it is my carry and only pistol I have at this time.
I'm trying to figure out what would be a good self deffence carry round for a 4in barrel?
Since my Kimber pro carry II is a camnder sizer 1911 and I know some 1911 can be real picky on deffence ammo. Trying to save myself a little time, headache and money on figuring out a good deffence ammo for me and my gun. So if there's and Kimber Pro Carry II owners out there, kimber owners or owners of comander size 1911 that could help me with my choice. It would be great.
I'm currntly using as a carry deffence round Federal 230gr jhg Personal Deffence(blue box) C45D.Which I bought cheap from wallie-world. I spent like $23per box on the 2 boxes I got. Haven't fired any of them yet through my gun but of the 150 round of 230gr fmj loads I have fired through my gun. It has a little more kick then I expected but nothing I can't handle. So any feed back would be great.

I have several Kimber 1911's. My defensive round choice is the CorBon DPX. It's reliable, retains weight and has awesome penetration. Good luck finding some. I highly recommend that you shoot your defensive rounds prior to carrying to make sure there are no issues when you need it.

I've tried lots of different 45 Defense ammo but have settle on 185 gr GDHPs from Double Tap @ 1200fps........Extremely Accurate as is all the DT ammo I buy! Lots of good ammo out there, be sure to give DT a try while making your decision! Good Luck!

Welcome from Wisconsin! As has been suggested - make sure you shoot whatever you choose to make sure that they fire/feed/eject. Don't go out & buy a thousand rounds at first until you know they'll work in your Kimber.

Welcome to the forum from SW Ohio.
As others have said, there are a lot of good rounds out there. Just be sure to fire some of them through your gun to ensure they will function properly in YOUR gun before you decide to carry them and trust your life to them.

Welcome from Virginia. I carry and shoot a Commander size Dan Wesson. Mine handles the Federal 230 gr. HST rounds with no problems. Might give them a try if you can find them.

Welcome from the MS Gulf Coast. Congrats on the Kimber purchase as well. 500 rounds or so break in, and you'll be good to go. Pictures would be nice. :)
