Hi, and I have a question

Second post, still very much a newbie.....

Picked up a S&W M&P9c specifically for carry, and have a Galco holster. I'm wondering.... How much will carrying wear on the finish of a pistol, and if so, is there anything specific you can do to minimize that? Or am just being a wuss about a new gun that has a purpose for which looks have little to do with function. I just tend to care for my possessions is all...

    Welcome to the forum!

OK, this may rain on your parade, but nearly every holster known to man will wear your gun's finish. The rate at which wear occurs depends n the gun's finish, the holster material, and how often the gun is drawn and reholstered. The good news, which might take a little time to adjust to, is that honest wear on a gun is not abuse and folks who "know" guns will respect that.

Taking care of your guns means keeping them operating and free from corrosion, and this does not imply passing a white-glove inspection.

+3 on what Smitty said. Guns like the M&P line are tools meant to be used... not kept in the original packaging to be sold on eBay in 10 years.

Ok, I'm being a wuss - I'll deal with it. Like the first time you get a nic on a new car, once it's done, I suppose I won't think a thing about it, and start to think of it as a sort of badge of honor....

Welcome to the forum. As gasmitty said wear is going to happen, it's just the nature of the beast. Ask the people here who know about CC guns and 99% tell you, holster wear give a gun a classy look.

Welcome from Wisconsin> your carry gun is going to take on some wear on the finish. That is why I carry my Ruger LC9 or Glock 26,
both were lower cost than my Colts and Kimbers.

Beware the man with only one well worn pistol--He probably knows how to use it.

    Don't sweat the holster wear.
